Thankful Thursday

To have a heart that is filled with thanksgiving in all things is sometimes difficult. As I grow I realize that thankfulness, like so many other feelings, is a choice.

Today I am not "feeling" so thankful, not because there isn't anything to be thankful for, but because I just don't "feel" it. As a woman I can often just go with that and be in a lousy mood, having a rotten attitude. But this day I am going to choose to be thankful...to embrace the joy of my Lord and my God...regardless of how I "feel" right now at this moment.

They are to stand every morning to thank and to praise the LORD, and likewise at evening (1Chron 23:30)

My lips will shout for joy when I sing praises to You (Ps 71:23)

Now therefore, our God, we thank You, and praise Your glorious name.(1Chron 29:13

Sing praise to the LORD, you His godly ones, And give thanks to His holy name.(Ps 30:4)

Shout joyfully to the LORD, all the earth; Break forth and sing for joy and sing praises (Ps 98:4)

Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts...and be thankful.(Co 3:15)[all verses NASB]

Father I thank you that your mercies are new every morning. I am thankful that you continue to lovingly and gracefully work in my heart.

Father thank you for using me inspite of all the growth that is still needed.

Thank you for giving me such amazing women to minister to. Women who love you and desire to grow. Women who want to be held accountable, to be encouraged and are so willing to do the same for me.

Father I thank you for dear friends who have such a precious place in my heart and that they are willing to stay in contact even when life moves them away.

Father thank you for filling my heart with you and a grateful spirit...even today.

There are sometimes I don't feel like it either, but when I step up to the plate and open my mouth He blesses my heart in a special way
    Good job.

  2. I've had those days. Feelings are tricky things. Thankfully, the Lord has given us beautiful scripture as you've quoted to help us overcome those yucky feelings. May God bless you for being thankful even though you didn't feel like it.

  4. I believe that sometimes we "have to fake it until we make it." I think that God loves that praise even more than the bubbling praise, because it shows that we are committed to praising Him. Blessings to you!

  7. This is so precious, Sharon. :) I love all of the Scriptures!! And it is such a joy how you are declaring a thankful heart even when you don't "feel" it. :) I went through a similar thing yesterday w/ angry emotions when both of my children were testing me much and yet I chose to stop and praise God in the midst. And, that He could teach me patience- LOL! I am so glad that I stopped by your blog; you are such a blessing to me. :)
