Grace and Truth

And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth. John testified about Him and cried out, saying,"This was He of whom I said, 'He who comes after me has a higher rank than I, for He existed before me.' " For of His fullness we have all received, and grace upon grace. For the Law was given through Moses; grace and truth were realized through Jesus Christ. No one has seen God at anytime; the only begotten God who is in the bosom of the Father, He has explained Him. John 1:14-18

graceandtruthWe are in need of two things that this verse reminds of us. Grace and Truth. Jesus came in the fullness of both. He is grace. He is truth. “He was full of grace, fully acceptable to his Father, and therefore qualified to intercede for us; and full of truth, fully apprized of the things he was to reveal, and therefore fit to instruct us. He had a fullness of knowledge and a fullness of compassion.” (Matthew Henry)

Because Jesus cam in fullness of grace and truth  we have access to both. He gives us grace and truth so that God might be pleased with us.

In the fullness of Jesus we receive grace upon grace. Grace on top of grace on top of grace. Isn’t that beautiful? His grace does not run out.

Dear child of God, find comfort today in knowing that Jesus came in the FULLNESS of GRACE and TRUTH so that we could receive both through Him.

He came and paid the price for our sins. He pain the debt we owe. It’s now paid in full. This is grace. This is truth.
