30 Days of Blessings: Death

Teach me Your way, O Lord; I will walk in Your truth; Unite my heart to fear Your name. I will give thanks to You, O Lord my God, with all my heart, And will glorify Your name forever. For Your lovingkindness toward me is great, and You have delivered my soul from the depth of Sheol. Ps 86:11-13

My heart longs to walk in truth, God’s truth, not the worlds. I don’t want to walk according to your truth or my truth. There is only one Truth and that is Jesus. He said that He is “the way and the truth.”

This is my desire – to walk in His way, in His truth. But it’s hard and I fail all the time.

MP900438611Death is always hard. Especially this kind of death. It’s not a death where you fall asleep quietly and not wake up.

This death, the death we are called to, is a crushing death. A death that must happen over and over. A death to my will, desires and death to my flesh.

This flesh that fights to be heard, to be obeyed must die. But it’s not a death that comes easy.

But how can I fight one so seemingly strong? I must fight with truth. The only way I can know His truth is for God Himself to teach me. He teaches through His word.

When I am in His word, not just to gain knowledge, but to live and obey then I can battle the flesh. Only then do I realize I do not battle alone. Only then to I recognize that He alone is the One who will deliver me.

Oh Father, hear my cry! Teach me Your ways, unite my heart to fear Your name. I will give thanks to you. I will glorify Your name. Thanks you for not leaving me here in this battle alone. Thanks you for your deliverance and your love toward me. Amen
