Thankful for Dependency

I don’t think there is a day that goes by that I am not reminded of just how dependent I am on God. This morning I woke up in a flurry of self absorbed thoughts that were quickly doing their job to send me spiraling down. I didn’t even feel as if I could pray for myself.

There was a time that I would have stayed there and drowned. But God reminded me I have a sister who is committed to walking this journey with me. I sent her a text – we call them SOS prayers for those times when we KNOW we need someone else to pray us to where we need to be. Those who know me know how huge it is for me to come to a place where I am okay with reaching out to a sister and say I need you. I need help.

She called me and she reminded me of truth. She reminded me that my enemy wants to destroy, he wants me focused on self. She reminded me of who I am in Christ. She reminded me that I needed to go to God’s word – it’s there we find truth. She prayed for me.

So what did God say? What word did HE have for me today? It’s beautiful! He is beautiful. His Word is beautiful. You see there is never condemnation from God (or my friend) because He understands that we need reminders. He understands that in a moment of attack we sometimes forget.

I am studying 1 Peter and this is what God spoke today.

I have been chosen for God’s own possession. He called me out of darkness into HIS marvelous light. I have been chosen  according to the FOREKNOWLEGDE of God by the sanctifying work of His Spirit. 1 Peter 1:1-2; 2:9

I am chosen, holy and beloved of God. Col 3:12

I am chosen, predestined, CALLED, justified and glorified through Christ Jesus. Rom 8:29-33

God chose me BEFORE the foundations of the world existed. Eph 1:3-4

And then in 2 Tim 2:10 I was reminded by Paul to endure all things… to stand firm.

Thank you God for being so gracious to send reminders to me when I forget. You know my heart. You know how quickly I can forget that I am in a battle and yet you still love me, still choose to work in me.
Another reminder that God put in my path this morning was a quote I read by a friend who has no idea she was used of God by sharing it!
“If the enemy can dominate your thoughts, he can dominate you. Give no foothold!”

  2. Oh, Praise the Lord! And I love the story of the SOS texting. Brillant! So neat that friends can uplift each other in prayer like that.
