Is there anyone knocking at your door asking you if they can fight for you? Is there anyone willing to fight for your marriage, your children, your relationships with your friends or your God? If you aren’t willing to fight who will?
Our enemy is greater than many give him credit for and he’s not messing around, his desire is to destroy you, your marriage, your children and church. He is not idle; he is at work in the midst of our churches, our communities and our nation. But who is fighting? We continue with our busy lives, gaining wealth, status and comfort. All the while our enemy's focus is more personal; his focus is the soul of every man, woman and child.
I am reminded of Nehemiah 4:14 where Nehemiah tells the people that they do not need to be afraid of their enemy but they need to “remember the Lord who is great and awesome, and FIGHT for your brothers, your sons, your daughters, your wives (marriages) and your houses.”
A little further in chapter 14 we see how the people continued on with the work God has given them to do. They continued on working even in the midst of knowing the enemy might attack again, but they would not be caught unaware. They were prepared with one hand doing the work and the other hand prepared for battle. I’m sure it made the going slower and harder, but being prepared for the enemy was necessary in order to carry on the work God had given them to do.
Ladies, we are in a battle. I believe that the enemy has done a very good job feeding us lies and keeping us so busy that we don’t even see it. The battle we face today is for the generation that follows us. We have young women believing lies that their happiness and fulfillment is found in bigger and better. We believe lies that the busier we are the more fulfilled we are. We have teens who sit in our Sunday School classes who don’t know what the gospel is. We have women sitting beside us every Sunday who are being pulled into a pit of discouragement and hopelessness because of the crisis they are currently facing in their marriages or with their children.
Who is fighting for them? Is anyone lining up ready to take up their weapons and fight? Or are we all too busy worrying about our own small bubble of the world?
God is calling each of us to rise up and fight for our communities. Ephesians 6:10 reminds us that we are to be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might we are to put on the armor of God, so that we will be able to stand against our enemy and fight.
So if you are not going to rise up and fight who will? I’m tired and I’ve had enough standing by and allowing the enemy to creep into my family (the family of God) and I’m calling all who will join me to rise up and prepare for battle!
Amen, amen, and AMEN! Sharon, if we don't fight we might as well give the enemy an empty room to set up camp! Bless you for blessing me!
ReplyDeleteAmen! What a good and true post... if we do not stand up and fight for our families no one else will. What is sad to me is when we are the only ones in our families who are standing and fighting...
ReplyDeleteGod has spoken the same thing to me lately, that if I do not persevere in prayer and fight for my family and my marriage, no one else will and Satan will have his way... well, I refuse to stand by and let him have his way, I am a child of God, and I will fight with the weapons He has given me!
Standing and fighting!
I'm putting on my armor and heading out! You're right. There is a battle going on and I need to first fight on my knees in prayer. Then I need to get out there and fight the good fight.

Girl, you and I are on the SAME page this week!!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE when God calls us together to say the same word.
ReplyDeleteI posted a 2-part Speak to My Soul Devotional called RISE UP (get battle ready) this week as well.
I see far too many people (mostly women) who sit by while the evil one wrecks their lives. I loved your post and stand in agreement with you that it is WAY past time to RISE UP!
Come over and check it out when you get some time. Take Care Friend,
Melissa in Mel's World
I totally agree with what you wrote. The enemy is clearly at work and it is true we must fight for our families in Christ.
ReplyDeletemore like fighting on our knees...
ReplyDeleteas women, I think when we get riled up, we think it means we have to literally go out and fight...when really, our most productive place is on our knees, letting Him and the men in our lives do the very outward fighting.
It takes more belief in God for me to not try to take into my own hands and run to God with it than some outward manifestation.
We need to fight- for God's glory, and our joy!
Thanks for this post. I am feeling a little battle weary lately. I love your focus on Nehemiah. Thanks for reminding us to be strong in God's strength. My own strength falls short every time.
ReplyDeleteMany blessings!
I'm glad God will fight for me when I'm weak
ReplyDeleteYou are so right, we need to be on our faces in prayer for each other, our families, and our goverment & every aspect that touches our lives covering these in prayer will make the enemy run.
