I am not surprised by this for God's word is clear that this is to come...
For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths. 2 Tim 4:3-4It does, however grieve my heart to know that so many are being decieved. So what is my response? What does God say?
Verse 2 says "Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage--with great patience and careful instruction."
Verse 5 says " But you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, discharge all the duties of your ministry."
Timothy goes on the say the he has poured himself out like a drink offering. He has fought the good fight, finish the race, and kept the faith. (vs 6-7)
As I read these verses I was reminded of Psalms 119:92-93 "If Your law had not been my delight, Then I would have perished in my affliction.I will never forget Your precepts, For by them You have revived me."
We will perish if we do not know the word of God. We will be led astray by "another gospel" if we do not know the word of God for ourselves.
Do you know the word of God for yourself? Do you read it? Study it? Are you asking God to reveal truth to you through his word so that it will revive you?
Do not be led astray by a gospel that sounds easy. Or one that does not cost you to follow.
The Gospel of Christ WILL be costly. The Gospel of Christ will change you. The Gospel of Christ will delight your heart, and revive your soul.
My challenge to you is to KNOW God's Word for yourself. Read it, learn from it, ask God to open up your eyes and ears to hear TRUTH.
Dive into the TRUTH so that when you hear these teachers who want to "tickle" the ears you will be able to discern what is the true gospel and what is watered down.
Sharon, I was just reading this morning how some use God's weapons against him. In other words, they draw others to them instead of leading them to Christ.
ReplyDeleteI had to consider myself and the posts I share. I don't want to just write a good post, but share my love for God and his glory in my life.
Another good post. There is too much watered down gospel around.
ReplyDeletePowerful!
ReplyDeleteAmen to that!! It is so very important to know God's Word for ourselves, especially in the times we are living in...
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
Amen and Amen.
ReplyDeleteThe word needs to be spoken uncompromised and without apology
