Instead, God deliberately chose things the world considers foolish in order to shame those who think they are wise. And he chose those who are powerless to shame those who are powerful.
God chose things despised by the world, things counted as nothing at all, and used them to bring to nothing what the world considers important,so that no one can ever boast in the presence of God.
God alone made it possible for you to be in Christ Jesus. For our benefit God made Christ to be wisdom itself.
He is the one who made us acceptable to God. He made us pure and holy, and he gave himself to purchase our freedom.
As the Scriptures say, "The person who wishes to boast should boast only of what the Lord has done." 1 Cor 1:26-31 (NLT)
Everytime I read this passage I am reminded that anything that I am able to accomplish is because of what God has done through me. I am so thankful that He chooses to use the foolish, powerless and those who really are rather ordinary.
Because of Jesus I am acceptable, I am pure and holy.
It is because of Jesus that I am able to do anything counted as worthy.
I'm so glad He chose me too. Those verses really do put everything into perspective - like the part about choosing the foolish things and the part about boasting only of what the Lord has done. It says it all.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad He chose me and you. I love to read verses like this and then it reminds me that I still need to "walk humbly with my God" Kae
ReplyDeleteSharon, you are able to articulate God's love so wonderfully. I am curious, how much time do you spend daily reading God's Word? Is it the same every day. You can email me if you want to.
ReplyDeleteAmen! I too am so thankful that He chose me! You have a wonderful way with words, thanks for sharing your thankful heart and all that God is to you and what He is teaching you!
