Draw Near To God

Each year I ask God for a verse or area of my life to "work" on. For most of the year our Pastor has been preaching on the book of James. James 4:8 has kept coming back to me. As I have studied this verse my eyes have been opened to things I haven't seen before. I will be sharing some of those thoughts in the coming days on what it means to "draw near to God".

I'm sure the journey this year will be challenging as I seek to draw closer to my Lord. But I know it will also be a blessing.

Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.
Cleanse your hands, you sinners;
and purify your hearts,
you double-minded. Jas 4:8
let us draw near to God
with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith,
having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse
us from a guilty conscience
and having our bodies washed
with pure water. Heb 10:22

    Happy New Year my friend.. thanks for the wonderful comments on my blog.... the lessons that I have learned by walking in the dark places are more precious to me than silver and gold.. My walk started 30 years ago but seems that it took me so long to figure it out...... I am a teacher of the word and have preached some in my life... I am anxious to see what the Lord has in store for me in 2008.... I am thinking that the wonderful ladies such as yourself have a big part to play in my life..... and that makes me smile.........

    Great verses, really prevoking further study and meditation on them as they have touched something in me, the "cleanse us from a guilty conscience" is so hard for me.

    I was raised in a little town in Penna.known as Jenkintown,about 20 miles north of Philadelphia. My father took us for rides through the Pocono mountains when I was a youngster. Very pretty country.

    great verse. i've never had a verse as a yearly focus but i'm thinking i should try to for this year. i've been reading in a lot of blogs that women are doing this. i need to pray that God will show me the one He wants for me. thanks for sharing and encouraging me to do this.
