  4. what a nice give-away. i would like any of the three. and before i forget it... i love the new banner. perfect!

i'll be honest. my first thought was, "this has not been a very good year." but it only took me a few seconds to change that thinking around and reflect on the many good things God has done for me this year.

the one (actually two) that i'll leave here is how good things have been for my kids this year, and that makes me extremely happy and thankful.

my daughter is in her second year of college and not only doing well, but loving where she's living and getting more involved with the navigators organization.

my son is in his senior year and will graduate with an i.b. diploma. he's a very smart kid, engaging in life, and has a bright future.

  7. What a neat give-away, Sharon! I love anything by Beth, and the others sound good too.
I think God has shown me this year that *I* am not in control. He is. That's been a tough one for me. I am thankful that my family is all relatively healthy despite all the medical issues this year.
    Blessings,
    Karen

  8. I also love your banner. How true!
What a lovely give-a-way. I love to read, eat chocolate and drink coffee!
This has been an interesting year. God spoke to me after last Christmas that I needed to ask my mom to move to our town. She has many medical needs. Surprisingly, she said she would leave her hometown of 50+ years. God showed me that it really was His will when a handicapped apt. opened up in an apartment complex on the ground floor. He gave me the strength to get her packed and moved (with help). He gave me a desire to have my mother close by, and though he still has a lot of work to do in my heart (patience and such), I know I am on the right track!

    Thanks for letting me share.

  9. Well, can I share something God has been showing me for the past 3 years? He is showing me how to be thankful in ALL situations. We have had a LOT happen the past 3 years, but he has seen us through it all.

Thank you for this giveaway. It is very sweet of you. :D

  11. I have finally figured our that I must make my quiet time/Bible study time a priority. Over kids wants, laundry, meals, etc. So, I now rise at 6 a.m. (before the litlle buckaroos)and spend time rpaying, studying and sometimes just in awe of Him. It makes my whole day better and I am focused on Him which is where our lives should be centered.

  12. God has been really good to our family this year. Our state is in tough economic times now, but we all have stable jobs. Heather has had 2 hospitalizations and is doing well. Andy left for the Army and although we miss him, God has been with us and Andy. He is enjoying what he is doing and we get to see him soon!
Thanks for doing this - I love Beth Moore, don't know Carolyn Mahany but I'm sure that if you enjoy her, she is good!

  13. Thanks for having this give-a-way! I can't wait to see if I win. Where to begin on what God has been showing me! I guess 2 of the biggest things He's taught me this year are: Always go to His word for answers. I really took hold of this in May after a friend at church died. His wonderful wife kept saying "go to His word, Kim, the answers are there". His word has become so much more precious to me since then. Next but certainly not least he has taught me about the sin of "pride" and how it manifests itself in so may ways. It is a constant battle to resist our natural urges to be prideful. I praise our creator for what he has and will continue to show me in 2008 and beyond! To God Be The Glory!!!!

  15. How thoughtful of you to do this give away.
My small group has been studying about the attributes of God & it has impressed on me that God is so big I can't wrap my brain around it but inspite of His greatness He still knows my name & the exact number of hairs on my head.
The book on Humility sounds interesting.

  16. One thing I have learned from God this year is that even in the bleakest of times, His Light will shine through.

All of the books look like a wonderful read.

    Blessings,
    Mary

  17. Hmmm ... just one thing ? I am thankful for so much and learning all the time ! This life is such a journey and I guess God is teaching me that there really isn't any other way to go through it than with Him. Step by Step, Day by Day. When I try to do it myself ... it stinks !

Don't know if your contest is open world wide. I'm in Australia. However, my whole family is in the States so I could have it sent to them, if I was to win :)

Thanks for doing this ! I did my first give-away recently and it was quite fun !

  18. What a lovely site! I love the banner for the season!!

The Lord has shown me that I can't escape being a pastor's wife, even when people say that they just want me to be their friend. It's a call and a privelege to be a pastor's wife and I'm learning how much having that title effects things around me, even when I don't know it. The Lord has given me much grace through this process, and he's always faithful, even when I'm in denial!

Blessings to you and your family this Christmas season!

  20. I love your blog and found you via Mary .... Is she a sweetie or what??? The one thing that I have learned from God this year is that when fear rushes in to overwhelm us that the Spirit of the Lord rises up to bring us peace... I have confronted fear this year in a way that I never experienced before.... and during those dark times I found Him there in a greater measure........

  24. Hi, i cam over from Mary's writing nook. I love a contest and nothing better than sittin with a book, a cuppa, and and afgan.
I like the 3rd book, sounds interesting.
God has been so good to us this year. J and I are recovering from a big financial set back which started in '97. We have been a little concerned about the amount we would have to live on once we're retired. God has shown us that we're going to be fine. Of course, we knew all along he would provide but it is nice to see it revealed.

  25. Hi Sharon,
I'm a little slow getting over here. My sister is Mari from My little Corner of the World and I've seen you there. Right now I'm thankful that my husband has a job - due to the loss of so many in Michigan. I love Beth Moore and am in the middle of a Bible study of hers right now. She has got such insight into things.
    Thanks for hosting this giveaway.

  28. This looks like a fun and profitable giveaway. I think I would choose "Feminine Appeal" by Carolyn Mahaney.

I have a lot to be thankful for this week. My father and brother survived a horrible accident on Wednesday with no injuries at all. Their vehicle rolled when they were hit by someone running a stop sign. The other driver was seriously injured. We are praying for him and thankful that God spared our guys.
