A Grateful Heart

I've been thinking a lot over the last few days about having a grateful heart. And while there are times that we don't feel grateful I have found that if we just stop and reflect on all that God has done we can find many things to be thankful for. It comes down to a choice, I can choose to be grateful regardless of my circumstances or I can choose to have an ungrateful heart. To choose ungratefulness means that I am choosing to focus on self, which will lead down a path toward anger, discouragement and bitterness. To choose to have a grateful heart in all things mean to focus on God and all He has done, which leads to joy in spite of circumstances.

Now on to my list...
I am thankful for amazing GRACE so rich and free!

I am thankful that even during a time when I wasn't walking close to Him, God gave me a godly husband, who would love me unconditionally.

I am thankful for a God who redeems the years we've wasted.

I am thankful that God has never given up on me,but continually works to refine my heart.

I am thankful that God has provided so much just for our enjoyment, like the scent and vibrant color of flowers, the birds singing, the sound of ocean waves, the view from a mountain top, music, laughter, friends, a cool breeze in the summer heat, a hug, and so much more...

I am thankful for a beautiful daughter-in-law who desires to be a godly wife and mom.

I am thankful for those quite moments in the day when I can reflect on those things that God brings to my mind and heart.

I am thankful for a church family who is closer than family. A pastor who preaches the Truth of God's Word. A board of men who lead the church and stand on solid biblical truths.

If I sat here long enough I could think of so much more, but I must get on with my day. I pray that I will walk today with a grateful heart in all things.

  5. What a beautiful list Sharon. I, too, am thankful for a God who can take the messes I've made and somehow redeem them; who loves Me in spite of my unworthiness.
Thank you for sharing your sweet, thankful heart.

  7. I enjoyed your list. Isn't it great, that we have so much to be thankful for, when we feel like we do not have much? I love sitting down and being thankful. It always improves my mood. Then to top it off, I get to go to other blogs and read what they are thankful for. It is such a blessing.
