Oh Father why do I constanstly run to the wrong mountain? It seems that I have spent much of my life trying to climb Mount Sinai. I try living under the law. I try to DO and to BE good. I'm always trying to measure up to a standard that only condemns. But it's not just me,others also try to hold me up to a standard of their own version of the law to see whether or not I am "spiritual". We have "rules", we have "lists" and not only do we try to live up to them but we try to make others live up to them.
I so often forget that I am free of the law! I know that the law is good for I would not have known what sin was except through the law (Romans 7:7-12). But I have forgotten that the journey to Sinai is not the end! I am to go on to Mount Calvary! I am not longer condemned for through Christ Jesus I have been set me free from the law of sin and death (Romans 8:2). And furthermore what the law was powerless to do(save me) God did by sending his own Son(8:3).Why did God do that? So that the righteous requirements of the law might be fully met and I no longer live according to the sinful nature but according to the Spirit. (8:4)
Its called GRACE! Oh Father help me to live as a child of freedom! Help me to live beyond Sinai and look to Calvary and then look to the empty grave!
