During the times that "there's pain in the offering" I realize all the more the need to worship my God. When the road that we are currently on is "marked with pain and suffering" and we offer our praise to God, it's called an sacrifice of praise.
You know what I mean, we've all been there. We offer worship to a God who is Holy Sovereign even in the midst of circumstances that you do not understand. You praise His name, You honor Him even when there seems to be nothing but darkness on all sides. The feelings aren't quite there but you praise God anyway for you trust in the God that you are worshipping.
I love this worship song because it reminds me to bless the name of the Lord no matter where I am at. Whether it's in the land of plenty or the desert, I am to praise the Lord-I am to bless Him, to honor Him, to bring glory to His name.
No matter if your current circumstances have completely knocked you off balance or it's just the little everyday troubles of life we find our joy, our peace in blessing His name.
Blessed Be Your Name

Blessed Be Your Name
In the land that is plentiful
Where Your streams of abundance flow
Blessed be Your name
Blessed Be Your name
When I'm found in the desert place
Though I walk through the wilderness
Blessed Be Your name
Every blessing You pour out
I'll turn back to praise
When the darkness closes in, Lord
Still I will say
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your name
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your glorious name
Blessed be Your name
When the sun's shining down on me
When the world's 'all as it should be'
Blessed be Your name
Blessed be Your name
On the road marked with suffering
Though there's pain in the offering
Blessed be Your name
Every blessing You pour out
I'll turn back to praise
When the darkness closes in, Lord
Still I will say
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your name
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your glorious name
You give and take away
You give and take away
My heart will choose to say
Lord, blessed be Your name
